Join us for a Hands-On FlowCam®-Workshop!

The FlowCam®, is the first automated particle analysis instrument to use digital imaging to identify, enumerate and measure microscopic particles in a fluid medium. The FlowCam® is commonly used as a replacement or supplement to the manual microscope, providing a statistically significant volume of data for both research and commercial applications. Fluid Imaging Technologies, Inc. has been manufacturing this industry-leading particle analysis instrumentation in the United States since its conception at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in 1999. Based on proven FlowCam® technology, the new FlowCam® Cyano differentiates cyanobacteria from other algae and detritus in aquatic samples. After differentiating the cyanobacteria from the other algae in the sample, the FlowCam’s software, VisualSpreadsheet, can be used to further characterize the specific types of all algae found in the sample. 

In cooperation with the company Fluid Imaging Technologies, the company Anasysta is offering an exclusive introductory workshop to the FlowCam® Cyano and the FlowCam® 8000 series.  The workshop will take place on

During the workshop, participants will receive a detailed introduction to the patented FlowCam® technology and the many advantages of the analysis software VisualSpreadsheet®. During several presentations we will also discuss typical uses for the FlowCam®.

In the afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to receive a hands-on training on different FlowCam systems. Attendees are encouraged to bring samples (e.g. cultures, live or preserved, freshwater or marine systems, phytoplankton or zooplankton) to run on the FlowCam 8400 or FlowCam Cyano.

• 10:15 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.: Coffee break
• 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 p.m.: Introduction to FlowCam® Cyano; Presenter: Frances Buerkens, Fluid Imaging Technologies
• 11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Hands-on introduction on working the FlowCam and VisualSpreadsheet
• 12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Lunch Break
• 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Hands-on FlowCam® training with possibility to bring your own samples
• 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Final remarks and questions
