Particle size analysis

Characterization of particle dimensions of disperse systems – or just simple determination of the particle size, is of great interest in the industrial, biological and pharmaceutical sector. Countless properties are tied to the size of a particle, like dispersion and flow behavior, stability of particle ensembles and agglomeration attributes. The type of particle can be almost arbitrary, from nanoparticles like aerosols or polymers over viruses and bacteria, to macroscopic particles of organic or inorganic nature.  Various challenges have to be overcome to grant high resolution size measurements, for instance the precise capturing of individual particles in polydisperse or high-density suspensions.
